What Others Are Saying

When we began our initial assessment of the state of things in our office, we had some major hurdles to overcome. I am happy to report that things are very different in our office now, and I can only attribute it to the skill you exercised in working with our group over the past year. Your one-on-one coaching of our supervisors, the team-building retreats, and the conflict resolution training were very successful. I was skeptical at first, but the results speak for themselves.

Mastering Involvement: Appropriately Involving Team Members in Decision Making (Audio and PowerPoint)
Have you made decisions that impacted your team only to find out that their commitment and follow-through wasn't there when it's "showtime?" Commitment and involvement are related, but few managers really understand the variables involved.  When to just "lay down the law?"  When to let the group decide?  Do I always want the team's input?  These are just a few of the questions we explore as we review the seminal research of Vroom and Yetton.  Their 1972 book Leadership and Decision Making, a classic in the field, provided clear guidelines for how to involve others to get the most commitment for the job at hand in the most expeditious way possible. This research forms the basis for our highly successful Mastering Involvement workshop.
