Reaching Team Consensus around Superior SolutionsConsensus and Decision MakingThe ability to efficiently reach consensus aids in promoting team buy-in for decision implementation and further work. Many teams desire to reach consensus more frequently and easily. More important than consensus, however, is the actual quality of the solution chosen: how well the solution meets your needs, both now and in the future. A poor solution, even when fully supported by the whole team, is still a poor solution. Choice Analysis is the optimal decision making process for teams. Through it, your team achieves both ends: a superior solution, and team consensus around that solution. Choice Analysis systematically guides your team to ...
The end result? Solutions which achieve your key objectives and balance higher ROI with acceptable levels of risk. Why Choice Analysis is RIGHT for TeamsThink of it like a very focused series of "yeses"Rather than becoming fixated on particular solutions, the Choice Analysis process begins by helping your team to clarify the true purpose of the decision. It drives your team to openly discuss, negotiate and weight the importance of all hoped-for results relative to one another. Only after the true nature of the decision is understood does the team search for optional solutions. The team then gathers information to show how well each optional solution satisfies the previously defined criteria; armed with this information, the team discusses, negotiates and scores each of the options. Before making its final choice, the team investigates the risks associated with promising solutions, again gathering data and sharing it. Notice that the team progresses through a series of cycles of information gathering, discussion and negotiation. A clear, agreed-upon decision purpose leads to optional solutions which should perform well; further research and discussion about each option leads to a final choice. This flow minimizes the "hidden agendas" that can drive the outcome of important decisions, maximizes team member involvement, and helps the team achieve a series of consensus decisions. By the time the final choice is made, the team fully supports it. Contact an FSTD representative to discuss Choice Analysis | ||||
