What Others Are Saying

I worked with Rob for 18 months through the W.K. Kellogg Foundation's Mid-South Delta Initiative to develop a 'Strategic Vision" for the Delta. Through that experience and relationship, I'm more than honored to say that Rob was the beacon for our success. Thought provoking, challenging, compassionate, articulate, strict attention to detail, engaging, humourous and a gifted leader are the qualities that Rob Benson posesses. Because of those qualities, we were successful in accomplishing our goal and I came away a better person.

Coordinating Individual Team Talents

More than likely, we’ve all had to work with people who were quite different than us. Sometimes it’s frustrating. But have you ever worked on a team where people have learned to deal with their differences? Where difference was not only appreciated but actually exploited, thus using each member's team talents and enabling each to work more frequently within his or her preferred team roles?

Objectives

Depending upon how the the Coordinating Individual Team Talents Workshop is customized, team members will learn:

  • The four basic roles within teams, their preferred roles and the diversity of priorities and preferences of each role in a team
  • Team project stages and the activities and priorities associated with each of the four stages
  • The challenges and communication breakdowns they may face when working with others who have different priorities, roles, and talents
  • How to be more effective about managing differences

Team members apply the concepts learned to reconfigure current team assignments and exploit members talents and preferred roles. They conclude by creating Commitments to Action around strategies for working and communicating with each of the four roles.

Benefits

Based upon skills learned and the negotiation of roles and tasks that team members have in this workshop,

  • the team will structure future tasks more in alignment with individual strengths
  • Individual team members will expend less energy trying to fulfill team roles for which they are not primarily suited, resulting in less stress and higher engagement
  • the team will complete its projects more effectively and efficiently.

Participants

This training is ideal for all intact work teams.
